Learn & Practice JavaScript Online For Free!

Its here. Now you can learn JavaScript online for free, through an initiative called CodeYear, by Codeacademy.

If you haven’t already heard of Codeacademy or CodeYear, I’ll tell you what they both are.

The ‘About Us’ section of Codeacademy says:

“Codecademy was created out of the frustrations Zach and Ryan felt with learning how to program. Tired with less effective text and video resources, Ryan and Zach teamed up to create Codecademy, a better, more interactive way to learn programming by actually coding. This is just the beginning. Join us as we make it easy for everyone to love and learn how to code.”

It’s really one hell of a startup because after using it for some lessons I really found it a nice way to teach the language.

It is as easy as it should be with lessons providing you full insight into the deepest part of the language.

The UI is quite easy to use with an even easier teacher. The website lets you practice in the ScratchPad if you want to take a break from the lesson, and you can try and execute any commands relating to JavaScript on that ScratchPad. Once you are back in mood to start a next lesson or resume the current lesson, just Minimize the ScratchPad and you are on. The website also gives you hints on certain problems.

If you want to be notified of each lesson, you can sign up for CodeYear and as its tagline says, learn to code in 2012.

CodeYear will e-mail you of each lesson with some time gap so that you can easily learn and practice within a short time, without putting any stress. CodeYear is a project of Codeacademy, so all their lessons are done on the Codeacademy website itself.
