How To Remove BitLocker Encryption (Decrypt) in Windows 7

Using bitlocker we can encrypt and add password to any USB stick or Hard disk drive for security,
but what if we want to remove it?

When we try to remove the password an error comes:
THIS PASSWORD IS THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THIS DRIVE. ADD ANOTHER UNLOCKING METHOD BEFORE REMOVING PASSWORD!

Quick info: BitLocker helps keep everything from documents to passwords safer by encrypting the entire drive that Windows and your data reside on. Once BitLocker is turned on, any file you save on that drive is encrypted automatically.

Lets see how to unlock the encrypt drive

1. Click the Start button to view the Start Menu and then choose the Control Panel option. The Control Panel window opens up.

2. Now click the System and Security link from this window.

The System and Security section of Control Panel opens up and you can see the direct link for the BitLocker Drive Encryption.

3. Click on the BitLocker Drive Encryption and a new window opens up.

4. Click Turn off BitLocker of your external hard drives. This opens the BitLocker Drive Encryption dialog box. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

It will ask for a confirmation: “Your drive will be decrypted. This may take considerable time. You can monitor the status of your drive decryption.”

Just proceed by clicking  Decrypt Drive

you have to wait till it completes..!!

and its done!

I chose the “remove password” option and removed the password. It did not give an option to decrypt. Now I cannot access the data on that drive. This is a spare portable data drive. The drive appears to be blank.
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
